Low life cycle cost

This chapter contains examples of how Saab was able to adapt to the major changes in conditions which emerged in the market. It includes changes to the politico-security situation which, at times, resulted in few new development orders.

This meant that Saab had to significantly revise its working procedures for the company itself, as well as to be able to create added values for its customers in the form of more cost-effective products from a life-cycle perspective.

The chapter also illustrates how Saab effectuated innovative change work in order to remodel the way it procured systems and cooperated with partners.

Also described is how the efficiency of production operations was increased and how Saab, moving forward, can offer customers tailored industrial partnerships. “Systems Engineering”, which is fundamental to effectual engineering work, is also covered.
